May 26, 2022:  Chair, Department of Journalism and Mass Communication (DoJMC), University of Nairobi Dr. Silas ORIASO (centre) sharing a light moment with Dr. Fred Kakooza (Right) and Dr. Marion Alina (Left) from the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, Makarere University, Uganda. The Department (DoJMC) is in talks with Makerere University over possible collaborative engagements on Grant Research; Staff and Students Academic Exchange; Early and Mid- Career and Postdoctoral training and Sandwich degree programmes.

April 8, 2022:  Impact Farm, an innovation by a team of UoN students from the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, emerges at the top of the EAC Digital Innovation event.

Impact Farm is an agricultural-oriented business aimed at providing cold storage solutions for farmers for as low as Ksh 50 daily to reduce post-harvest loss.

March 29, 2022:  The University of Nairobi held its Faculty and Campus Students Association (FCSA) annual elections. The elections were held virtually on Friday March 25th, 2022.

There were three teams competing for FCSA office in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences FOASS; Team Success, Team Okuz and Team Integrity.

Team Integrity took the lead with a total of 1361 votes followed closely by Team Okuz with 1179 votes. The incoming Chairperson representing FOASS in FCSA is Peter Nguka.

March 29, 2022:  The Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS) was recognized during the performance and contracting awards through its various departments and the staff who work under it. This recognition was made to both teaching and non-teaching staff who have been exemplary in their performances.

February 21, 2022:  Dr. Silas Oriaso is the new Chair, Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, University of Nairobi. Dr Oriaso is also Senior Researcher and consultant in Communications, Development and Environmental Information and takes over from Prof. Ndeti Ndati who has served as head of department for the last six years.

February 20, 2022:  Eight students from the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, University of Nairobi: Adrian Lubanga, Hope Nabalayo, Wyclife Oluoch, Christen Nyaguthii, Bernad Otieno, Nicole Choka, Kairu Karega, and your budding writer, Edwin Austin participated in the BBC Global questions event that was recorded in Kenya, Serena Hotel in Nairobi.

January 19, 2022:  You can now watch UNC TV live on signet Channel 602 and UNC TV Youtube Channel 

The University's channel signal was switched on for testing by the UoN Vice Chancellor, Prof. Stephen Kiama on Friday, January 14, 2022 at the UoN studio. 

“We are here to witness history unfolding today! This is the moment we have all been waiting for - to have our own TV and radio station,” exclaimed the VC, Prof. Stephen Kiama.

December 6, 2021:  The  Department of Journalism and Mass Communication students from both Journalism and Media Studies and Broadcast production have been actively engaged in writing scripts for both the audio and visual content, shooting, editing and sound production of the content. All students from 1st year to 4th year have been represented. UNESCO took them through a series of training sessions to ensure that they are fully equipped.
