BBC Science Journalist visits DOJMC

October 4, 2022:  British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) Science Journalist Martin Smith visits Department of Journalism and Mass Communication (DOJMC). He addressed our students on Science Journalism and BBC Radio program production stages and procedures at University of Nairobi Towers. With him is Prof. Silas Oriaso (left), Chair Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, University of Nairobi and Mr. Fred Ogutu (Right), Studio Manager, UNC TV and Radio.

Ushirika High School visits DOJMC

July 26, 2022:  Ushirika Girls' High School Journalism Club students take a tour of Department of Journalism and Mass Communication (DOJMC), University of Nairobi. They were later addressed by Dr. Silas Oriaso, Chairman of Department after a tour.

DOJMC/BRITISH ACADEMY SCHOLARS WRITING WORKSHOP

July 12, 2022:  The Department of Journalism and Mass Communication (DOJMC), University of Nairobi in collaboration with the British Academy and the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) held a Writing Workshop on July 11 and 12, 2022. The workshop brought together journal editors and experienced scholars to work together with ECRs in 'writing' and mentoring sessions tailored to support the latter in producing publishable journal articles.

Capacity Workshop of Youth Organizations in Mathare

July 7, 2022:  The Department of Journalism and Mass Communication held a capacity workshop of youth organizations in Mathare on July 7, 2022 at the Korean Corner, Education Building, Main Campus, University of Nairobi. Some of the topics that were covered included: Understanding Organizational Governance, Sound Organizational Management, Program Management, Human Resource and Membership and Financial Management. The Department continues to bridge the gap between academia and industry in empowering the local community using the research undertaken.
